Assok, a traditional expression imbued with a primitive singularity, aims to be an attractive specificity in the very essence of Baka culture.
Located 188km from the town of Sangmelima, Dja et Lobo department, South Region and 96 km from the Cameroon – Congo Brazzaville border; the locality of Assok, populated by the Baka (people of the forest), draws its specificity from its primitive tradition, most of its substance from the forest through hunting and gathering.
With a density of 300 inhabitants, Assok is identified by the captivating and attractive presence of a divinity “Edjengue”, the god of the community who provides them with all their well-being. Beyond the mystical and mysterious presence of this divinity, Assok in its ecological and tourist value is dependent on numerous riches of fauna and flora, with therapeutic virtues, including a swimming pool with miraculous waters, but also a museum living Baka.
With these tourist attractions imbued with mysteries and therapeutic miracles, Assok remains one of the rare typically Pygmy villages in Cameroon.
